Federal Tax Planning Associate

Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid) Position Type: Full-Time

About the Role

We are seeking a mid-level Federal Tax Planning Associate with 2 to 4 years of experience to join our growing Dallas practice. This position offers high-level, sophisticated federal tax planning work within an environment that truly values teamwork, professional growth, and transparency.

  • Competitive Base Salary: $205,000 – $225,000 (commensurate with 2–4 years of experience).

  • Bonus Structure: Guaranteed bonus upon hitting 2,000 billable hours.

    • Pro-rated / eligible for lower bonus tiers if billable targets fall under 2,000 hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on complex federal tax issues, corporate and partnership transactions, restructurings, and tax-efficient structuring.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate tax-related provisions in transaction documents.

  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare legal memorandums on federal tax matters.

  • Collaborate directly with partners, senior associates, and clients across practice groups.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school; active membership in good standing with the Texas State Bar (or eligibility to waive in/transfer).

  • 2–4 years of dedicated federal tax planning experience at a law firm or corporate tax practice.

  • LL.M. in Taxation is preferred, but not strictly required.

  • Strong analytical, drafting, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team setting while managing individual billable priorities.
