Fiber Construction Supervisor/Coordinator

TekCom Resources is seeking a Fiber Construction Coordinator for a direct-hire opportunity with a growing telecommunications construction company in the Hazard, KY area. This field-based position will support multiple Outside Plant (OSP) fiber construction projects for a major national broadband provider. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in fiber construction, crew coordination, and quality control. This individual will oversee daily field activities, monitor construction progress, ensure compliance with project specifications, and assist with administrative and project coordination responsibilities. Regular visits to active construction sites throughout the southern Louisville market and surrounding areas are essential to this role.Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor daily OSP fiber construction activities across multiple projects and field crews.
• Conduct regular field inspections to verify construction progress, workmanship, and compliance with engineering specifications.
• Oversee aerial and underground fiber construction activities, including conduit installation, fiber placement, and related infrastructure work.
• Monitor crew productivity, schedules, and milestones to ensure on-time completion.
• Perform quality control inspections and identify construction deficiencies requiring corrective action.
• Coordinate with construction supervisors, contractors, project managers, and internal teams to resolve field issues and maintain project schedules.
• Assist with preconstruction planning, site readiness, permitting coordination, and material availability.
• Track daily production, contractor invoicing, equipment, materials, and project documentation.
• Ensure field crews follow applicable OSHA, NESC, company, and customer safety requirements.
• Support fiber splicing coordination, testing, inspections, and project closeout activities as applicable.
• Communicate project updates, scheduling concerns, and construction challenges to management and customers.
• Maintain accurate field reports, construction records, and quality control documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of hands-on Outside Plant (OSP) construction experience.
• 1–3 years of experience in fiber construction, telecommunications infrastructure, utility construction, or a related field preferred.
• Understanding of aerial and underground fiber construction methods and field operations.
• Experience coordinating construction crews, monitoring project progress, or performing field quality inspections.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, project schedules, and basic engineering documentation.
• Familiarity with construction safety procedures and quality control standards.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, track field activities, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic construction reporting tools.
• Willingness and ability to work in the field five days per week, traveling to project sites generally within 1–2 hours of Louisville, KY.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an OSP Construction Coordinator, Construction Supervisor, Fiber Inspector, OSP Inspector, or Fiber Construction Foreman.
• Hands-on fiber splicing experience, including familiarity with OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of FTTH deployments, aerial construction, underground utilities, directional drilling, trenching, and conduit installation.
• Familiarity with permitting, public right-of-way (ROW), utility coordination, and make-ready construction.
• Experience tracking contractor invoices, project costs, production quantities, and construction schedules.
• Knowledge of NESC standards and OSHA construction safety requirements.
• Experience supporting large-scale broadband or telecommunications network deployments.
