Overview
Interstate Power Systems is looking for a versatile Service Technician to support our Cedar Rapids operations—working both in the shop and in the field. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of equipment including Carrier transport refrigeration units, generators, heavy-duty trucks, and equipment.

What You’ll Do
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain:
- Carrier Transport Refrigeration systems
- Generators (including preventative maintenance and repairs)
- Heavy-duty trucks and diesel equipment
- Perform both shop-based repairs and field service work at customer locations
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues efficiently
- Complete preventative maintenance inspections and service work
- Communicate clearly with customers, service team, and leadership
- Maintain accurate service documentation and repair records
- Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards
What We’re Looking For
- 3–5+ years of experience in diesel, heavy equipment, refrigeration, or power systems
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Diesel engines (Cummins, CAT, Detroit, etc.)
- Transport refrigeration (Carrier preferred)
- Generator systems / power generation
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
- Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in a shop environment
- Positive attitude, reliability, and strong work ethic
- Physical ability to perform job duties without restrictions
- Technical degree or certifications preferred
