Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

A well-established structural steel erector in the Midwest is seeking an experienced Field Project Manager to join their team. This is an outstanding opportunity to join a respected organization with a strong reputation for delivering complex commercial and industrial structural steel projects while maintaining long-term client relationships and a commitment to execution excellence.

They are seeking a motivated project professional who thrives onsite, enjoys collaborating with superintendents and field crews, and can successfully manage structural steel erection projects from mobilization through completion.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage field execution of structural steel erection projects from project kickoff through closeout

  • Serve as the primary liaison between project management, superintendents, field personnel, and clients

  • Coordinate manpower planning, sequencing, equipment needs, and site logistics

  • Monitor project schedules and ensure milestones are achieved safely and efficiently

  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change orders for field execution

  • Manage project budgets, forecasting, labor productivity, and cost controls

  • Coordinate crane activities, erection sequencing, deliveries, and subcontractors

  • Attend and lead jobsite meetings with owners, general contractors, and internal stakeholders

  • Identify and resolve field issues while minimizing schedule and cost impacts

  • Support safety initiatives and ensure compliance with company and site requirements

  • Maintain accurate project reporting, documentation, and communication

  • Travel to active projects throughout the Midwest as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within structural steel erection

  • Direct experience managing field operations for commercial and/or industrial steel projects

  • Strong understanding of structural steel erection methods, sequencing, rigging, and jobsite coordination

  • Ability to read and interpret structural, architectural, and erection drawings

  • Experience managing schedules, labor productivity, budgets, and change management

  • Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced field environment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction management software

  • Experience coordinating directly with owners, general contractors, superintendents, and field teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience managing projects exceeding $10M in erection scope

  • Exposure to industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, distribution centers, data centers, or large commercial construction

  • Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Tekla, FabTrol, or related project platforms

  • Background managing multiple concurrent projects and field teams

COMPENSATION:

  • Base Salary: $100,000–$140,000 DOE

  • Performance-based bonus opportunity

  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance

  • Travel package and project-related expenses provided

  • Exposure to large commercial and industrial structural steel projects throughout the Midwest

  • Long-term growth with an established structural steel erector
