Position OverviewAKIVA is seeking a Finance/Accounting Clerk to support a public sector client in New York’s Capital District with financial reporting, budget tracking, invoice processing, and general ledger maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional looking to gain public sector experience. AKIVA provides AI-enhanced financial analysis tools that help you produce reports faster, automate data reconciliation, and generate actionable insights. Training is included.
Key Responsibilities Prepare financial reports, budget summaries, and variance analyses Process vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements Maintain and update the general ledger with accurate entries Track budget expenditures and flag variances for management review Reconcile accounts and prepare month-end closing documentation Assist with annual audit preparation and compliance documentation Support procurement and purchasing documentation as needed Use AI-powered analytics tools to generate insights, automate reconciliations, and produce presentation-ready financial summaries
Required Qualifications 1–2 years of finance, accounting, or bookkeeping experience Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, charts, pivot tables) Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial reporting Experience with enterprise financial systems or ERP platforms Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail Excellent written and verbal communication skills Must pass background check and drug screening Valid work authorization required
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration Experience with government or public sector financial reporting Knowledge of NYS procurement and budgeting processes CPA track or pursuing accounting certifications
