The Finance Specialist succeeds by ensuring clear, accurate, and timely communication between Rentwell operations and Proper.ai. They empower Property Managers with financial clarity, improve trust with landlords, and maintain Rentwell’s gold standard for transparency and service.

Selected Day-to-Day Activities

  • Communication & Translation
  • Act as the primary point of contact between Rentwell’s property managers and the accounting service provider.
  • Translate financial requests and deliverables into clear, actionable communication.
  • Perform preliminary reviews of monthly financial statements and highlight key items for management.
  • Facilitate explanations of accounting processes and timelines to Rentwell employees in clear, non-technical language.
  • Financial Oversight & Quality Control
  • Review owner statements and reports prepared by Proper.ai for accuracy before distribution.
  • Monitor reconciliation, owner draws, and invoices to ensure alignment with Rentwell’s standards.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of documentation submitted to the accounting team.
  • Monitor deadlines for reporting, reconciliations, and other deliverables to ensure timely completion.
  • Support for Property Managers
  • Provide timely financial explanations so PMs can confidently answer owner questions.
  • Conduct mini-trainings or create FAQs to reduce repetitive finance-related inquiries.
  • Assist in interpreting accounting outputs (e.g., trial balances, general ledgers) into actionable insights for property operations.
  • Issue Resolution & Workflow Management
  • Track, escalate, and resolve discrepancies between the operations team and accounting service provider to resolve discrepancies or open items.
  • Implement checklists and processes to reduce back-and-forth and errors.
  • Support escalations and ensure issues are routed efficiently to the appropriate team for resolution.
  • Customer Service & Process Improvement
  • Ensure financial communication is professional, accurate, and timely to build landlord confidence.
  • Propose and implement improvements in financial workflows and reporting clarity.
  • Provide feedback to improve communication, workflows, and documentation between both parties.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong understanding of property management accounting (trust accounts, owner statements, reconciliations).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working cross-functionally between finance and operations teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to resolve problems independently.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and property management software (AppFolio preferred).
