Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive finance experience in CPG, food, or beverage manufacturing.
  • Strong background in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (JDE, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Familiarity with manufacturing systems.
  • Knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory controls.

Leadership & Competencies

  • Strong business partnering and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate financial data into operational insights.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in plant environments and cross-functional settings.

Job Description:

The Operations Finance Manager partners with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D to drive financial performance across production operations. This role is responsible for cost accounting, manufacturing financial planning & analysis (FP&A), margin optimization, and performance management. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with hands-on operational insight in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead annual budgeting, in-year forecasting, and financial reporting for manufacturing sites.
  • Analyze production costs, labor efficiency, yield, waste, and manufacturing overhead.
  • Utilize volume-rate-mix (VRM) analytics to drive organizational understanding of profitability implications of product mix and cost variances.
  • Partner with plant leadership and Continuous Improvement teams to identify cost-saving and productivity opportunities.
  • Work closely with VP, Operations Finance to build out and maintain standardized monthly reporting dashboards breaking down the elements of Plant Controllable Cost.

Cost Accounting Leadership

  • Oversee standard cost development, BOM accuracy, and variance analysis (raw materials, packaging, labor, overhead).
  • Ensure accurate month-end close for manufacturing operations including detailed review of system-generated and manual journal entries.
  • Partner with Cost Accountant and R&D to build costing for new product launches and reformulations.

Operational Performance & KPI Management

  • Track and report KPIs from a financial lens including Direct Labor Cost per Case by facility and department.
  • Partner with VP, Operations Finance and IT department to build robust yield reporting with fidelity to the general ledger.
  • Support pricing decisions through cost-to-serve and margin analysis.
  • Provide financial guidance on capacity planning and production scheduling decisions as needed.
  • Evaluate capital expenditure (CapEx) proposals and ROI analysis.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as finance business partner to Operations and Supply Chain leadership. 
  • Build strong relationships across departments and facilities to align financial and operational goals.
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to drive financial discipline in continuous improvement and lean initiatives.

Job Details:

  • Work Hours: Full Time (Vernon, CA) - Monday through Friday, business hours
  • Work Attire: Use good judgment, keeping in mind the nature of their work, their safety and the safety of others.
  • Pay Range: $130,000 to $160,000, bonus eligible
