Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:  Assists with the County’s account receivables, credit card program, accounts payable transactions, journal entrees, employee benefits, account and bank reconciliations and invoicing for services provided.  Works on special projects as defined by the Finance Director.  The position is full-time with a full benefits package. Pay for this position is a range of $28.24 to $32.43 per hour.  This range reflects the County’s good-faith estimate of pay for this position at the time of posting. Starting pay is determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity in alignment with the County’s step-based compensation system.  Please note, applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in accounting or business preferred plus four years of experience in similar job function. 
  • Public Sector accounting preferred, but not required.
  • Four years of accounting experience in a governmental setting is preferred.  
  • Understanding of software used, or easily adapted to new software. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently or as a team member.

KEY EXPECTED RESULTS:

  1. Reconciles deposits to bank statements and tracks revenue, expense and special accounts.
  2. Serves as backup for Accounts Payable and Payroll.
  3. Creates/enters daily deposits.
  4. Prepares and uploads weekly journal entries.
  5. Oversees the maintenance of the County Credit Card program including WEX.
  6. Updates and reconciles employee benefits and billings.
  7. Maintains the account payable detail, ACH vendor payments, W-9, certificates of insurance, prepares annual 1099 forms and aid in research of unclaimed funds.
  8. Prepares monthly accounts receivable invoices, tracking, reconciling and gathering data for billing County services and contract preparation. 
  9. Assists the Finance Director in the compilation and preparation of material for the annual audit.
  10. Prepares Financial reports internally and to external State and Federal Agencies.
  11. Prepares reports for FOAA request.
  12. Works closely with other departments to provide training and assist with expense reports and other financial related tasks.
  13. Maintain and track department deadlines and other tasks as assigned.
  14. Attention to detail, accuracy and problem-solving skills are essential.
  15. Works with staff on compliance of local, state and federal grant funding and reporting.
  16. Understands software applications such as MUNIS, Excel (required) and other software used by the office. 
  17. Complies with Federal, State and local legal requirements by following policies and procedures.
  18. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  19. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.
  20. Ability to work productively & cooperatively with supervisors, employees and external contacts.
