Job Description:

The Financial Accounting Manager assists the organization in planning and evaluating business processes and strategy by providing accurate and timely financial reporting.  The Financial Accounting Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining accounting policies, practices, and procedures, while at the same time effectively managing financial accounting team members.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for managing the year-end audit process.

  • Obtains up-to-date knowledge of all financial reports and general ledger structures.

  • Ensures an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.

  • Ensures that Bank Compliance activities are accurately executed in a timely manner.

  • Ensures all census reporting activities are accurately executed in a timely manner.

  • Serves as a secondary reviewer of account reconciliations.

  • Advises team members on the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.

  • Responds to inquiries from the Director of Accounting, Controller, Vice President of Accounting and other finance and firm wide managers regarding financial results and special reporting requests.

  • Provides technical training in accounting to members of the accounting team.

  • Provides accounting knowledge transfer to other departments within the organization.

  • Obtains and maintains control documentation for all accounting processes both internal and external to accounting.

  • Supports the Accounting department with special projects and ad hoc request.

What We're Looking For:

  • Accounting degree from four-year College or University

  • 5+ years accounting experience;

  • CPA required

  • Strong understanding and working knowledge of US GAAP

  • MS Office Suite experience, particularly Excel

  • Experience with direct reports preferred
