Financial Analyst, Tax Equity and Project Finance

Position Summary

The Finance Analyst - Tax Equity & Project Finance will support the structuring, analysis, execution, and ongoing administration of renewable energy project finance and tax equity transactions for Ormat's Energy Storage segment. The role will focus on financial modeling, tax equity, construction financing, debt financing, due diligence, and financial close support.

This position will work closely with banks, investors, legal counsel, tax advisors, consultants, and internal cross-functional teams, while also supporting model management, existing financing oversight, cash waterfalls, compliance, reporting, and ongoing transaction execution.

Essential Functions

  • Financial Modeling: Build, maintain, audit, and update detailed renewable energy project finance models, including financing, debt financing, tax equity structures, operating-period cash flows, sensitivities, and scenario analyses.
  • Tax Equity Transactions: Support tax equity structuring, diligence, documentation, investor requests, closing processes, funding mechanics, reporting, and post-close transaction support.
  • Debt Financing: Assist with lender processes, financing materials, debt sizing, draw mechanics, funding schedules, covenant analysis, and related closing deliverables.
  • Due Diligence: Coordinate financial, legal, tax, technical, commercial, and project-level due diligence processes with internal teams and external advisors. Manage transaction data rooms, documents, and Q&A logs.
  • Financial Close Support: Support transaction execution from initial analysis through financial close, including checklist management, document review coordination, model updates, approvals, closing deliverables, and communication with financing parties.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work directly with banks, investors, attorneys, tax advisors, consultants, and internal finance, accounting, legal, engineering, construction, development, and operations teams.
  • Manage and maintain transaction models and related assumptions throughout development, construction, financing, closing, and operating periods.
  • Monitor existing project financings, including debt facilities, tax equity structures, funding requirements, covenant obligations, reporting deadlines, and other compliance deliverables.
  • Prepare and analyze cash waterfalls, distribution calculations, reserve requirements, funding flows, and related investor or lender reporting support.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support ongoing project finance and tax equity transactions, including data room materials, diligence responses, model sensitivities, investor and lender requests, and internal approval materials.
  • Assist with transaction funding mechanics, cash flow tracking, draw requests, reserve accounts, and coordination with treasury and accounting teams.
  • Coordinate with development, engineering, construction, operations, legal, tax, accounting, and finance teams to ensure transaction assumptions, deliverables, and reporting packages are accurate and complete.
  • Prepare recurring compliance certificates, investor and lender reporting packages, transaction notices, and supporting documentation.
  • Complete and support special projects, transaction analyses, process improvements, and other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in project finance, structured finance, tax equity, renewable energy finance, infrastructure finance, investment banking, or a similar transaction-oriented finance role.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including project finance models, DCF models, debt sizing, tax equity economics, cash waterfalls, sensitivities, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
  • Knowledge of tax equity, construction financing, debt financing, financial close processes, compliance reporting, and due diligence workflows preferred.
  • Experience with renewable energy, energy storage, power markets, infrastructure finance, or project-level financing preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required; experience with PowerPoint, Word, data rooms, financial software, and transaction management tools preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills with the ability to evaluate risks, returns, timing, and transaction tradeoffs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams, deadlines, transaction checklists, and external financing-party requests.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to banks, investors, attorneys, tax advisors, consultants, internal teams, senior management, and non-financial stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and ability to review financial models, legal documents, diligence materials, compliance deliverables, and reporting packages for accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with finance, accounting, legal, engineering, construction, development, operations, and external transaction teams in a fast-paced, transaction-oriented environment.
  • Ability to prioritize time-sensitive requests and support transaction execution during critical closing periods.
  • Commitment to improving finance processes, transaction workflows, modeling standards, reporting quality, and related tools.

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 25lbs without assistance.
