Department Profile:

The WM and U.S. Banks Financial Crimes Risk Team is embedded within the Firm's business line. It is responsible for identifying, assessing, and escalating potential money laundering and reputational risk issues associated with higher risk client types. The WM and U.S. Banks Financial Crimes Risk Team is considered the first line of defense and supports the onboarding, enhanced due diligence, and negative news processes for Morgan Stanley.

Team: Technology Strategy and Solutions - KYC Process and Automation Analyst

Technology Strategy and Solutions("TSS") is the internal team responsible for enabling and delivering technology solutions for the 1L FCR department. TSS partners with internal 1L FCR teams, Platforms, Technology and Operations to design, build, enhance, and support the systems that enable AML, KYC, screening, onboarding, and other client-risk processes within the first line of defense.

TSS delivers end-to-end technology solutions for 1L FCR, including requirements writing, functional design, UAT, and production/post-production support. These roles strengthen TSS' ability to deliver stable releases and ensure reliable system performance across 1L FCR-owned capabilities.

The Enterprise Design function within TSS focuses on process analysis, workflow optimization, automation enablement, and business requirements development across KYC, screening, enhanced due diligence, and related capabilities.

This role reports into the Enterprise Design team and partners closely with 1L FCR stakeholders and TSS delivery leads to support KYC-focused optimization and enhancement initiatives.

This role is well suited for analytical professionals who are looking to deepen their experience in Financial Crimes technology and production environments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Partner with KYC stakeholders to document current-state workflows, including system touchpoints, review layers, and manual processes
  • Perform structured analysis of workflow logic to identify inefficiencies, duplicate steps, and enhancement opportunities
  • Support development of detailed business requirements for workflow improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements
  • Assist in evaluating automation and system optimization opportunities across KYC, screening, and due diligence processes
  • Prepare clear documentation including process maps, analysis summaries, and supporting materials for internal review
  • Coordinate with 1L FCR stakeholders, Platforms and Technology partners to gather requirements and validate proposed solutions
  • Support tracking of identified opportunities and maintain structured documentation to ensure transparency and audit readiness
  • Contribute to other TSS and Enterprise Design initiatives and targeted action plans as needed

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience in business analysis, operations, AML KYC, technology delivery, or related financial service roles
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze workflows and draft structured business requirements
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to translate operational challenges into clear documentation
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work products
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional groups to drive issue resolution
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Knowledge of Financial Crimes concepts (AML, KYC, CIP, screening, onboarding, periodic review) is helpful but not required; must be able to learn quickly
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Technology or a related field

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $100K-$135K per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
