Job Description

FIRE ALARM INSPECTOR AND SERVICE TECHNICIAN

We are expanding and are needing Fire Alarm Inspectors to join our team!

Midwest Protection Services (MPS) brings decades of trusted service to areas within a 200-mile radius of Omaha, Nebraska. As part of the Guardian network, they deliver expert fire protection equipment, security, and access control systems while upholding Guardian's promise of excellence and safety. Established in 2004 by industry experts, MPS is a top-tier provider for commercial, residential, and industrial projects in their region.

You will install, inspect, and repair alarm wiring and equipment. Those with a Nebraska or Iowa State Fire Alarm Inspectors License, NICET Certification, Electrical Apprentice experience, or Applicants with fire alarm installation experience should apply.

Our technicians work in a variety of facilities in Nebraska and Iowa but primarily in Omaha, Lincoln, and Council Bluffs.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, Install, and service new and existing Fire alarm systems. Experience with interface to Security Systems, CCTV Systems, Access Control Systems. Door Entry Systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with alarms systems.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on alarm systems.
  • Monitor inventory of service parts.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in commercial fire alarm installation, maintenance, security, low voltage commercial wiring, or other related fields.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Experience in a commercial construction atmosphere is preferred.
  • Ability to handle physical workload.
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills.

Certifications Preferred but not required:

  • NICET Fire Alarm or Current Nebraska or Iowa Fire alarm inspector license is preferred.
  • Current Nebraska Fire alarm Installers License or Electrical Journeyman's license is preferred.
  • Those with 12 or more months of documented electrical apprentice time should also apply.
  • Previous Experience installing low voltage wiring in a commercial setting is preferred (New Apartment construction is a plus)
