Job Description

What You Will Do

The Area Field Engineering Supervisor (Fire & Security) is responsible for optimizing the scheduling, dispatching, and coordination of field engineers within a defined geographic region. This role ensures effective utilization of field resources, on-time project execution, strong customer relationships, and seamless communication between engineering teams and sales partners.

In addition, the Area Field Engineering Supervisor leads and participates in initiatives that drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, and overall business performance.

How you will do it

Scheduling & Resource Allocation

  • Monitor and optimize daily, weekly, and monthly schedules for field engineers.

  • Assign field engineers based on skills, certifications, location, and project requirements.

  • Coordinate resource coverage during planned and unplanned absences.

  • Optimize travel routes and geographic coverage to improve efficiency and productivity.

  • Adjust schedules as needed to accommodate weather conditions, customer requests, or changing project priorities.

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with engineering and sales teams to understand project scope and establish service expectations.

  • Confirm site readiness and ensure required documentation is available prior to dispatch.

  • Track project progress and provide timely status updates to stakeholders.

  • Identify, communicate, and escalate project risks or delays proactively.

Field Team Leadership & Support

  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for field engineers.

  • Ensure field personnel have the tools, equipment, permits, and safety documentation required to perform their work.

  • Monitor productivity, workload distribution, and overall team performance.

  • Support workforce planning activities, including scheduling, capacity planning, and overtime management.

  • Oversee company vehicle and equipment utilization to ensure compliance, availability, and operational readiness.

  • Promote and share best practices to enhance team effectiveness and operational consistency.

  • Ensure technicians have appropriate tools, technology, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to safely and effectively complete assignments.

Customer & Internal Communication

  • Assign workloads and actively monitor field schedules and customer commitments.

  • Confirm field visit logistics, site access requirements, and scheduling details when needed.

  • Maintain effective communication between customers, engineering teams, sales teams, and operational stakeholders.

  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners to support project success and customer satisfaction.

  • Evaluate operational trends and implement actions to improve performance, service delivery, and resource utilization.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Track and analyze key performance indicators, including:

    • Resource utilization

    • On-time survey and project completion

    • Travel efficiency

    • Quality performance and rework rates

    • Lead generation opportunities

  • Identify capacity gaps and provide recommendations for resource planning and staffing needs.

  • Develop reporting and insights to support operational decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong operational planning and logistics management skills.

  • Experience optimizing field resources across geographic territories.

  • Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.

  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with field engineering, surveying, or technical service workflows.

  • Proficiency with scheduling, CRM, workforce management, and project management systems.

What we look for

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in operations coordination, field services, engineering support, or a related environment.

  • Previous experience leading or supervising field-based teams preferred.

  • Knowledge of field service processes, surveying practices, or technical service operations is a plus.

  • Experience in the fire, security, building systems, or related industry preferred.
