Job Description:

Lanier Technical College – is conducting a search for the following part-time, non-benefits eligible, FLSA non-exempt position. POSITION: Part-Time Fire Science Lab Assistant - Hall

REPORTS TO: Fire Science Program Director

SALARY: $18.00 per hour; up to 29 hours per week

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will work mornings. Under general supervision, instructs and supervises students in the Fire Science Technology program. Assists in the delivery of program and course outlines, goals and objectives; Evaluates students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives; Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area; work schedule and instructional location will be coordinated through the Program Director.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Assist faculty members with classroom instruction, exams, record keeping, adherence to safety procedures, tracking attendance and other miscellaneous tasks related to instruction

Tutor or mentor students

Assist with skill checkoffs

Prepare and clean labs as needed

Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials

Assist with special projects or initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have Pro-Board (NPQ) Firefighter I and Firefighter II (Include a copy with your information); High school graduate or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Healthcare Management or closely related field: Three (3) years of work experience in a closely related field: Georgia State Office of Emergency Medical Services Trauma Level I, II or III Instructor license; Experience in BANNER, Blackboard and MS Office; NFPA 1403 Live Fire Instructor; and/or previous work experience in a post-secondary educational environment.

NOTE: This is a morning temporary, part-time position that is appointed on a per-academic-term basis. This is an hourly paid position; up to 29 hours per week while classes are in session.
