Why You'll Love This Role

Identifying, documenting, and correcting deficiencies in fire sprinkler systems saves lives. This role offers an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about fire safety and hands-on technical work to go beyond inspection alone: diagnosing issues, performing minor repairs and component replacement, and providing recommendations for continuous improvement. This role focuses on inspection, testing, maintenance, and minor repair of existing water-based fire sprinkler systems. New system installation and larger-scope fabrication or pipefitting work is performed by our union Sprinkler Fitters.

What You'll Do

  • Inspection, Testing, Maintenance: Work in accordance with NFPA 25 and local standards to ensure systems are working correctly and address any issues
  • Repair & Service: Diagnose deficiencies identified during inspections and perform minor repairs, including replacement of sprinkler heads, valves, gauges, and other system components
  • Reporting: Use Google Suite to communicate findings, recommendations and summaries to relevant parties in a consistent and timely manner
  • Collaboration: Work alongside coordinators, sprinkler fitters and alarm teams to manage daily operations, including responding to incoming service calls and escalating larger-scope repair or installation needs to the appropriate team
  • Professional Growth: Embrace opportunities to learn, grow, and take on additional responsibilities

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • WA State ITT Certificate of Competency
  • Backflow Certification
  • 2+ years in fire sprinkler inspections, maintenance, and/or repairs
  • Working knowledge of sprinkler system components with the ability to perform minor repairs and replacements
  • Understanding of NFPA 25
  • Familiarity with water-based fire sprinkler systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Ability to work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment, utility vaults (confined spaces), above ceilings, etc.
  • Able to work a full-time yet flexible schedule
  • Valid driver's license with excellent driving record
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guidelines and procedures at all times
  • Drug screening and background checks will only be conducted after a conditional job offer is made. We evaluate criminal history based on its relevance to the job duties. Note: this is a safety sensitive role requiring a zero-substance —including marijuana/THC— drug screen result.

  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor including good judgment and honesty
  • Operates methodically and is well organized
