Job Description
Klamath County Fire District 1 (KCFD1) is currently accepting applications for the 2026 Apprentice to Firefighter candidate eligibility list.
Recruiting For:Firefighter/EMT
We are seeking motivated individuals currently enrolled in the KCFD1 apprentice Firefighter program, who are ready to take the next step in their careers. Candidates should demonstrate strong teamwork, professionalism, and a commitment to customer service.
KCFD1 is committed to protecting the lives and property of our community through compassionate, professional emergency services. This opportunity is intended for apprentices who are prepared for increased responsibility and continued growth.
Serving the Klamath Basin, KCFD1 provides fire protection, advanced life support, ambulance transport, hazardous materials response, and rescue services. Our team includes 64 line personnel across four stations, responding to nearly 10,000 calls annually.
Line personnel work a 56-hour schedule (48/96 shift), operate with modern equipment, and are represented by IAFF Local 890.
Annual Salary with Incentive: $74,439.00

To be considered for this position applicants must meet the below requirements:
- Current Klamath County Fire District 1 Apprentice
- High School Diploma or equiv.
- Valid Oregon Driver's License
- Current CPR Card
- NFPA Firefighter 1
- Current Oregon or National Registry EMT
- EVOC certified, NFPA Driver, or equivalent (must earn within probationary year)
- OSHA equivalent HazMat Emergency Responder Awareness and Operations (must earn within probationary year)
- NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 (must earn within probationary year)
Submission deadline is Friday May 8th, 2026 @ 5pm (PST) all applicants will be notified of their status no later than Monday May 11th.

All conditional job offers are contingent upon successful completion of an extensive fit-for-duty medical evaluation, drug screen, and full background investigation.
