Job Description

In addition, the Private Banking Group ("PBG") offers WM clients cash management and lending solutions.

Job Summary

The PBG is building its first-line credit risk team to enhance credit risk oversight and activities across multiple-lending products. We are seeking an Assistant Vice President (AVP) with a unique blend of data analytics and reporting skills along with experience in financial markets, private banking, and risk management. The candidate is expected to adapt and take on a variety of tasks but will be primarily focused on supporting ad-hoc reporting requests and helping to design and build automated reporting solutions. The role requires a minimum proficiency in data and reporting combined with an understanding of typical private banking lending products such as Securities-based lending, Tailored Lending, Residential Mortgages, and Commercial Real Estate lending. Success in this position also depends on the ability to collaborate effectively with a broad group of stakeholders and leverage firm-approved AI tools to improve risk oversight and operational efficiency.

Note: This role will be based in Purchase, NY as a Hybrid model working 4 days in office.

Job Description/Position Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize and transform complex data to deliver timely, accurate, and actionable insights and reports to support credit risk decision-making and strategic projects and initiatives.

  • Analyze and track portfolio metrics such as originations, limit monitoring, KRIs, loan quality, stressed credits, etc. by running data analytics across multiple databases to enable greater visibility of risk across the organization.

  • Assist in the oversight, coordination and management of stressed credit exposures across lending products and supporting and managing working group forums and risk committees.

  • Track progress on team initiatives, drive continuous improvement and efficiency, maintain documentation, drafting policies and procedures, mapping out processes, building decks and reports for senior management and regulators, etc.

  • Partner with stakeholders across multiple legal entities, businesses, financial and non-financial risk organizations, etc. to drive data-driven risk management initiatives.

Additional Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial services with emphasis on portfolio analytics and risk management.

  • BA in finance, economics, accounting, business, statistics or math; Advanced degrees / certifications are a plus.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in either Power BI, Tableau, or Dataiku, is required.

  • Skill using firm-approved AI tools to enhance analysis and productivity within governance frameworks preferred.

  • Solid understanding and experience working with databases and snowflake is preferred.

  • Experience designing automated reporting pipelines utilizing Python or SQL is preferred.

  • Experience translating regulatory and underwriting standards into data-driven controls is a plus.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; detail-oriented and effective in fast-paced environments.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $85,000 and $140,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
