Job Description

Flint Hydraulics is looking for a candidate who wants to take the next step in their Technical career to join our 100% employee owned company. Flint Hydraulics is dedicated to the worldwide distribution of original and replacement hydraulic pumps, hydraulic motors, and hydraulic pump replacement parts for heavy mobile and industrial equipment.

We are hiring a Shop Service Technician Level 1 for our rapidly growing service & repair division based in Memphis, TN. The Shop Service Technician Level 1 is responsible for the effective repair of machinery and components at high levels of quality and will work with more experienced members of the team to perform tear downs, repairs and learn more about hydraulic products.

Responsibilities:

  • Read and follow engineering schematic drawings, Bills of Material, and technical specifications.
  • Assemble, test, and service systems and components comprised mainly of company products.
  • Perform repair evaluations, repair, and test open and closed-circuit hydraulic pumps, and motors.
  • Manage workflow to maintain in accordance with customer required dates.
  • Perform general mechanical tasks, including as necessary basic welding, torch, grinding, painting, etc.
  • Maintain records as required (assembly routers, quality, dimensional checks, testing, etc.).
  • Fabricate and install high pressure tubing using standard fittings.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and safety of the shop area.
  • Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment within the establishment such as test stands, saws, and paint booth.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and mechanical systems.
  • Support and participate in the organization’s continual improvement program to conform to ISO 9001 requirements and understand the implications of not complying with the quality management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Fluid Power Society Certification for mechanic or technician preferred.
  • Forklift license preferred.
  • Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or combination of technical education and experience preferred.

Desired Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

  • Zero to two (0-2) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in an ISO 9001 environment a plus.
  • Ability to implement mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and use general math applications in order to read schematics.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure the daily workload is completed.
  • Ability to use measuring instruments (i.e. torque wrenches, calipers, squares, scales, pressure and torque gauges, vibration sensing devices, temperature indicators, and measuring tape) to ensure components/systems are within required tolerance and specifications.
  • Self-starter with excellent time management skills; ability to multi-task, including support of additional normal fabrication shop practices or assignments (equipment maintenance, clean up, cross functional training).
  • Valid driver’s license, and able to qualify and drive company vehicles (forklift, truck, etc.).
  • Ability to mentor/train other coworkers.
  • Welding and spray booth painting experience (Military specifications and/or ABS standards preferred).
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures and policies preferred.
