Job Description

Part-Time Food Pantry Coordinator                                 Hourly Rate $16.00          Schedule: 15 hours Monday 9-2, Wednesday 10-3, Thursday 11-4While this will be the main schedule, some flexibility is needed if future changes are made by Pawsperity's food partners.Pawsperity opened its doors in January 2016 as the country’s only nonprofit grooming school. Our mission is to empower families to become self-reliant through job training, life skills, and practical solutions to end their cycle of poverty. Key Responsibilities:Food Pantry Oversight
  • Conducts the weekly food partner ordering (Harvesters, Bishop Store House, etc.)
  • Schedules, coordinates, and ensure routine communication happens with volunteers transporting food runs, as well as putting food away/out
  • Cleans/maintains pantry area or assigning volunteers to assist with this ongoing project (ie: checking dates on cans, maintaining organization, etc.)
  • Oversees items that are not getting used frequently and suggests usage for the commercial kitchen
Commercial Kitchen Liaison/Oversight
  • Keeps the Culinary Volunteer Team up to date with necessary communication regarding upcoming group activities
  • Oversees Volgistics
    • Ensure volunteer shifts are also covered by the Culinary Volunteers; if not, be willing to step in, to fill that gap
    • Identifying with the Culinary Volunteers that cooking projects are identified in advance; and all items, including ingredients, are available; if not, making sure items are ordered
Volunteer Coordination
  • Schedule and communicate regularly with food volunteers, including reminder emails and calls for those who signed up for shifts
  • Solicit volunteers when regular food volunteers are out of town, sick, etc.
  • Provides training, when necessary
  • Works closely with the Culinary Volunteer Team
  • Greets and thanks volunteers when possible
Reporting
  • Learns/uses Volgistics, Pawsperity’s volunteer program software, to accurately account for/manage hours for the pantry and kitchen
  • Assist with monthly volunteer reporting narrative
Maintain Operations
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is in working order; communicate with operations if something needs to be fixes (submit ticket, etc.)
  • Orders necessary kitchen items, within the kitchen budget
  • Keeps the pantry and commercial kitchen in compliance with all health department protocol (ie: report refrigeration and freezer temperatures; post signage; etc.)
Management reserves the right to modify, add, or remove duties and responsibilities as needed to meet program requirements, at any time, and at its discretion. These changes may be communicated formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Additionally, scheduling, shift assignments, and work location may be adjusted as necessary to meet business needsCollaborative:
  • In all areas and responsibilities, work collaboratively to achieve agency goals in a manner reflective of the mission of Pawsperity.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Collaborative with the ability to communicate professionally with employees, volunteers, students, and partners of the organization.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Professional representative of the agency.
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable learning volunteer software.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others, both internally and externally, to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate and effective communication.
  • Professional, organized, and strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Discretion with confidentiality.
