The beautiful Shangri-La Resort, located at the tip of Monkey Island in the center of northeast Oklahoma's Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, is currently taking applications for seasonal workers. JOB OVERVIEW:

Under the direct supervision of the Restaurant Manager, the Food Runner maintains efficient, courteous food and beverage operations by greeting guests, anticipating guests' needs, and providing knowledgeable food and beverage service. They provide consistent professional guest relations with a positive upbeat personality.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Meet and greet clients and staff while creating an inviting guest experience.
  • Work with a team of runners to complete all opening and closing duties each day.
  • Learn about drinks offered to be able to share with guests.
  • Present menus, answer questions, and make suggestions regarding food and service to patrons.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of food, spirits, wine, champagne and cocktails.
  • Adheres to all Oklahoma liquor laws and companies' internal controls.
  • Monitor guests to ensure that they are not intoxicated, and proper procedures are followed if intoxication is observed.
  • Deliver a positive and efficient dining experience for guests.
  • Provides tray service; large and small trays when needed.
  • Take orders and prepare non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of the entire work area.
  • Responsible for notifying the management team if any member or guest has concerns or opportunities.
  • Polishes and stocks silverware, glassware, product etc., and prepares for use.
  • Contributes to the training of new team members.
  • Serve guests in a responsive, caring, prompt, and courteous manner.
  • Carry heavy items on a large serving tray.
  • Escort guests to a location they are looking for to help them find their destination.  
  • Weave the room checking each table for any drinks that may need refills as well as clearing of the tables.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Related experience is preferred but not required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers Permit and Able Liquor License.
  • Must have basic math and computer skills.
  • Must have the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Must be able to maintain professional status through interface with customers, management, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, including but not limited to extended hours, irregular shifts, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to stand and walk for extended periods; carry large serving trays with heavy items; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee occasionally is required to sit; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and lift more than 25lbs. Physical stamina and a proper mental attitude to work under pressure at a fast pace are essential. Must have the mental fortitude to handle the pressures of multiple tasks while providing excellent guest service.

Work Environment:

The duties of this position are primarily performed in indoor climate conditions.

  • Exercise care when lifting heavy objects and promptly report any safety concerns or hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with emergency procedures to maintain a secure environment for guests and associates.
