Food Safety & Quality Manager
Location: Fayetteville, NC Area
Salary Range: $125,000 – $150,000
Relocation: Local relocation assistance available
Position Overview
Our client, a premier leader in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Food Safety & Quality Manager to join their leadership team. This role is critical in upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence within a fast-paced production environment.
The successful candidate will oversee the development and maintenance of all food safety programs, ensuring the facility remains in full compliance with federal regulations while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management: Maintain and evolve SQF (Level 3) certification, HACCP plans, and HARPC programs to ensure global food safety standards.
Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for USDA and FDA inspections, as well as third-party audits.
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the Quality Assurance department, providing daily operational oversight and professional development for staff.
Operational Oversight: Manage laboratory testing, environmental monitoring, and sanitation verification protocols.
Continuous Improvement: Analyze quality data to drive root cause analysis and implement robust Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Production and Warehouse departments to verify that all raw materials and finished goods exceed internal and external specifications.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related technical field is required.
Experience: A minimum of 5–7 years of Quality Management experience within a food manufacturing environment. Previous experience with High-Care facilities or USDA-regulated environments is highly preferred.
Management: Proven track record of leading QA teams and managing departmental budgets and personnel.
Process Oversight: Expert knowledge of SQF systems and regulatory audit processes.
Specific Skills: * HACCP Certification.
SQF Practitioner status (highly preferred).
Proficiency in root cause analysis and data-driven decision-making.
