Job Summary
The Food Service Worker performs a variety of functions related to the safe assembly, distribution and service of food for Hospital patients; visitors The Food Service Worker supports hospital food service operations by preparing, assembling, and delivering meals to patients, visitors, and staff. This role ensures a high level of customer service while maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. This position does not provide direct patient care.Qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, assemble, and serve food for patient tray line, cafeteria, and retail services
- Set up, stock, and maintain food service stations for meal periods
- Deliver and retrieve patient trays as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and supplies
- Follow HACCP and department food safety standards
- Provide excellent customer service and promptly resolve issues
- Assist with food preparation for tray line and cafeteria operations
- Operate dish machines, trash compactors, and perform routine cleaning tasks
- Monitor supplies and report shortages or concerns to leadership
- Support department goals to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and sanitation projects
- Assist with training and cross-training of team members
Additional Job Details (if applicable)
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred (experience may substitute)
- Previous food service experience preferred
- Ability to read and communicate in English (role dependent)
- Strong multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to safely push carts and handle food service equipment
- Positive attitude with a commitment to service excellence (I CARE standards)
