  • A Kaniksu Community Health Medical Assessment & Stabilization Team (MAST) Nurse is not just responsible for providing excellent customer service. They are committed to providing an excellent patient experience while performing essential clinical or administrative work in a fast-paced, productive environment. YOU ARE an essential team member charged with assisting patients in managing their care at Kaniksu Community Health.

    Under the direction of the KCH Director of Nursing, Director of Clinical Operations and Medical Staff Providers and as a member of the Kaniksu Community Health Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) Team, a typical day might include of a Medical Assessment & Stabilization Team (MAST) Nurse might include;

  • * Provide confidential, trauma-informed, patient-centered care to patients reporting sexual assault or abuse.
  • * Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and address immediate medical, psychological, and safety concerns.
  • * Conduct specialized forensic examinations within your training, certification, and scope of practice.
  • * Collect, preserve, document, and maintain chain of custody for forensic evidence.
  • * Document medical and forensic findings accurately, objectively, and confidentially.
  • * Explain examination procedures, obtain informed consent, and respect patient choices throughout the process.
  • * Provide education, referrals, and connections to advocacy, counselling, medical follow-up, and community resources.
  • * Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, behavioral health professionals, advocates, law enforcement, child protection agencies, and other community partners as appropriate.
  • * Maintain current MAST training, competencies, and knowledge of trauma-informed and forensic nursing practices.
  • Experience Needed to Land this Gig:

    Required:

  • * Current, unrestricted Idaho RN license.
  • * Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • * Current BLS certification.
  • * Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and documentation skills.
  • * Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • * Ability to remain calm and compassionate in emotionally challenging situations.
  • * Experience in emergency, urgent care, women's health, pediatrics, behavioral health, or community health.
  • * Ability to work independently and effectively with diverse populations and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Preferred:

  • * Completion of a SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) training program or equivalent.
  • * Current SANE-A and/or SANE-P certification.
  • * Previous SANE or forensic nursing experience.
  • * Experience working with survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse, or other trauma.
  • * Knowledge of Idaho sexual assault reporting and forensic evidence collection requirements.
  • Work Schedule:

    This is a PRN/on-call position, with assignments based on patient needs and program coverage. The MAST Nurse must maintain availability for assigned call coverage and respond within established program expectations.
