In this role, you will play a critical part in the preparation of high-quality buffers, reagents and materials used in advanced molecular diagnostic controls. The products that you will support help ensure the quality of lab and hospital patient testing for genetic, oncologic, and infectious diseases across the globe. (MMQCI) designs, develops, manufactures, andmarkets unique quality control products used by hospital laboratories to monitor the accuracy of tests for inherited disease, pharmacogenetics, oncology, and infectious diseases. MMQCI has developed technologies to stabilize DNA and RNA for use as quality controls and continues to pursue the discovery of novel techniques useful for the development of new quality control products.MMQCI is conveniently located in beautiful southern coastal Maine, minutes from the Maine Turnpike, Portland International Jetport, and less than 2 hours from Boston. Close by are fabulous Portland restaurants, sandy beaches, and a plentiful supply of Maine lobsters! Many terrific outdoor activities are easily accessible including hiking, biking, kayaking, fishing, skiing and snowshoeing. - Prepare and manufacture reagents, buffers, and proprietary materials according to established procedures
- Perform routine calculations and quality control checks (e.g., pH, concentration) to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Follow aseptic techniques and adhere to cGMP and safety standards in all laboratory activities
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including micropipettes, pH meters, and other standard lab tools
- Safely handle chemicals and hazardous materials in controlled environments, including BSL-2 and chemical hoods
- Prepare work areas and materials for production and assist with manufacturing processes as needed
- Clean, sterilize, and maintain laboratory glassware, equipment, and workspaces
- Maintain accurate, detailed records in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements
- Support routine lab operations, including inventory management, stocking, and organization
- Assist with troubleshooting, process improvements, and cross-functional team support
- Associate’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or Chemistry with 2+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with applicable laboratory experience
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow written procedures (SOPs)
- Hands-on experience with standard laboratory equipment (e.g., micropipettes, pH meters)
- Ability to perform precise, detail-oriented work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work safely with chemicals and follow all safety protocols
- Comfortable working in controlled laboratory environments with gowning requirements
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and basic computer proficiency
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs, including handling large labware
- Must be a non-smoker due to product contamination prevention requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or Chemistry
- Experience working in a laboratory with contamination control practices
- Familiarity with aseptic technique
- Experience in a cGMP and/or ISO-regulated environment
- Experience working in BSL-2 or chemical hood environments
