Front-Line Software Manager

The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Front-LineSoftware Manager (Level K) to join the Phantom Works Space Team located in Colorado Springs, CO.  This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.

This role will report to the Phantom Works Open Architecture Systems Integrated Software (OASIS) Solutions Senior Manager. This position is responsible for overall customer satisfaction, quality, cost and schedule performance for software related development and production activity for Phantom Works Space software and related efforts. The responsibility of the Software Manager includes “day-to-day” execution, technical excellence, first time quality and delivery of software products. In this role you will directly interface with the Phantom Works OASIS Solutions Senior Manager, Program Managers and Chief Engineers, and potentially customer representatives.

This leader will also be responsible for infusing software modernization initiatives into the software being developed, including BSF and Fabric.

Additionally, this position will support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) National Teams hiring & personnel management and may eventually assume this responsibility from the manager currently performing MDA hiring duties.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee professional employees engaged in engineering and technical activities within Software specifically focusing on Avionics systems
  • Develop and execute comprehensive software project and implementation plans tailored to Avionics applications, ensuring adherence to compliance
  • Provide technical management and guidance to partners and stakeholders in the Avionics, emphasizing quality assurance throughout the development process
  • Lead and oversee technical strategies, ensuring effective development and support for Avionics software while maintaining high-quality benchmarks
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with customers (both internal and external), stakeholders, peers, partners, and direct reports within Avionics
  • Most importantly, inspire, develop, and motivate team members to achieve their full potential in the context of Avionics software development, certification 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry or similar high-tech industry 
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with stakeholders, peers, and business partners 
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role leading global teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change 
  • Experience in team building, coaching, leading cross-functional teams, motivating and engaging team members 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, ABET accredited 
  • Experience in technical management and oversight of projects and resources
  • Familiarity with FAA DO-178, DO 330, ARP 4754 certification  
  • Experience applying Software development and software life cycle 
  • Experience with Electrical engineering and integration of complex applications and software
