Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • The Design Release Engineer is responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of a system/component within Fuels Systems: Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules.
  • Other responsibilities include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
  • The Design Release Engineer interacts with suppliers and works closely with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
Requirements:
  • 2 5 years of relevant engineering experience (preferred range discussed was 2 3+ years)
  • Design Release Engineer, Product Engineer, or Component Engineer experience (not primarily CAD/design-focused roles)
  • Experience with fuel systems, preferably:
  • Fuel tanks
  • Fuel delivery modules (FDMs)/fuel pumps
  • Urea/DEF tank systems
  • Understanding of APQP processes
  • Experience supporting product validation activities (DVP&R exposure preferred)
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with suppliers, manufacturing, validation labs, program teams, and quality organizations
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
Preferred:
  • Direct fuel tank design/release experience
  • Fuel delivery module (FDM) experience
  • Injection molding and/or blow molding experience
  • DFMEA experience
  • Design for Six Sigma certification or training
  • GD&T knowledge
  • NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/CAD system experience
  • Virtual simulation experience
  • Fastener and torque application knowledge
  • OEM automotive fuel systems experience
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent)
