Our platform uses AI to assist with plan review and validation, but the real value is in turning complex regulations and documents into trusted, auditable workflows that cities can rely on.

The Role
We are hiring a Full Stack Software Engineer to help build and scale the core 2BuildAI platform, including PlanSmartAI, our plan and standards intelligence engine.
You will work directly with the CEO and President and closely with product stakeholders, owning meaningful parts of the platform end to end. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building workflowdriven products, working with complex documents and rules, and integrating AI capabilities into practical, defensible software.
What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain full stack web applications used by cities and industry professionals
- Develop backend services, APIs, and data models that support documentheavy and rulesdriven workflows
- Build clear, intuitive user interfaces that translate complex validation results into understandable outcomes
- Integrate AI and LLM services into production systems with humanintheloop review and traceability
- Work with unstructured and semistructured data including PDFs, plan sets, drawings, and regulatory documents
- Collaborate on system architecture with a focus on reliability, explainability, and auditability
- Improve performance, security, and operational stability as the platform scales
- Work closely with leadership and product stakeholders to ship real features quickly and responsibly
Core Engineering Skills
- 3+ years of experience as a full stack or software engineer
- Experience working in a startup or smallteam environment with high ownership
- Strong experience with modern frontend frameworks
- Solid backend experience building APIs and services
- Experience designing and working with relational databases
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and SaaS deployments
- Understanding of a staged release process (development staging/QA production)
- Ability to take features from concept through release and support them in a live production environment
- Comfortable working with evolving requirements and prioritizing delivery over perfection
- Comfortable working with complex business logic, regulatory rules, and nonideal inputs
- Comfortable owning features end to end, rather than working from narrowly scoped tickets
AIEnabled Experience
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI APIs into production applications
- Understanding that AI outputs must be constrained, validated, and reviewed before use
- Experience designing humanintheloop workflows where AI assists but does not make final decisions
- Comfortable working with unstructured and semistructured data such as PDFs, plan sets, images, and regulatory documents
- Exposure to embeddings, classification, extraction, or vector search is a plus
- Appreciation for explainability, traceability, and repeatability in AIassisted systems
- Curiosity about how AI behaves in realworld production environments, including limitations and failure modes
