Job Description

Who we are looking for

In this role, you will define a strategy to proactively review end to end process and controls, identifying opportunities to reduce risk, improve quality / automation and confirm 'fit for purpose' design across the operating model for a strategic client of State Street . You will work with State Street teams from around the globe and own the overall governance of this program - schedule of reviews, completeness of reviews and governance of subsequent action plans. You will interact with the client and lead the engagement, including demonstrating value added from each review and alignment with the end-to-end process including the client and other third parties. You will initiate and develop good communication and interpersonal relationship with key client stakeholders, business operations teams and IT to improve the overall operating environment.

This is a senior operational and managerial position with significant client and control responsibilities with clear objectives to improve quality. The role is the primary escalation point for all risk events and quality defects impacting the client. The candidate should be a hands-on leader who is able to define the scope of work and drive the program with the teams to improve outcomes for the client.

What you will be responsible for

you will

  • Perform a continuous assessment of effectiveness of operating model for the client with a focus on Fund Accounting/Back Office operational and technology controls, with emphasis on activities with highest impact on the Net Asset Value of the Funds

  • Identify, recommend and implement approved control enhancement opportunities

  • Perform root cause assessment, trend analysis, and monitoring of remedial actions for persistent and/or recurring issue trends

  • Deploy a distributed model in which protocols of this role are embedded across global functions

  • Project management, as needed, of operational risk mitigation initiatives.

  • Define schedule of risk reviews and engagement with the client and operational teams

  • Demonstrate the impact and effectiveness of the Quality Control function

  • Be based in an existing State Street location, and available to attend the office per existing working structures

  • Manage workshops and review sessions to perform an analysis of the effectiveness of the end-to-end process and control framework

  • Directly accountable for work production, deliverables and client sentiment driven by this function

  • Evaluate current process against market standards and benchmarks to identify opportunities and confirm suitability of process

  • Participate in the Fund Accounting Management Team and align with global functional leads on the outcomes of each review

  • Ensure teams are compliant with internal and external regulations and follow escalation procedures

  • Develop the wider team, providing relevant guidance, support and opportunities

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in financial services, presently in a leadership role engaging senior leaders throughout the organization

  • Navigate a large, global organization. Build meaningful relationships and develop an effective network

  • Work successfully in a functionalized, matrixed environment. Effectively manage multiple stakeholders, determine highest priorities for the organization, identify and resolve contention between directives

  • Work with global teams to understand planned change management events (e.g. technology changes, process enhancements, general ledger changes, etc.) and evaluate impact on related processesAbility to organize and analyze large sets of disparate data to identify trends, emerging risks, and opportunities for enhancement

  • Proven leadership skills as well as managing and developing a high performing operations team

  • Experience in driving global management programs, sponsorship and leadership roles. Demonstrated ability to execute under challenging circumstances and deliver targeted outcomes

  • Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and influence colleagues and virtual team members

  • Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to connect with colleagues globally in a collaborative, open work environment. To serve as a role model of acceptance and flexibility in dealing with colleagues with varying backgrounds.

  • Willingness for business travel where required

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $252,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
