WorkSource Montgomery, Inc. (WSM) is a nonprofit organization and fiduciary agent for Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act funding in Montgomery County. The non-profit organization operates the American Job Centers in Wheaton and Germantown and provides employment services to county residents who are unemployed or underemployed. Additionally, WSM engages employers in various industries throughout the county to ensure that their workforce needs are met.
Position Overview:
WorkSource Montgomery is seeking a Talent Placement Consultant to support operations at the newly launched Federal Workforce Career Center (FWCC). This full-time, on-site position plays a key role in connecting displaced federal workers to employment opportunities by building strong employer relationships and aligning job placements with sector needs. Core responsibilities include conducting employer outreach, identifying job openings, coordinating job referrals, and facilitating successful matches between job seekers and employers. The ideal candidate is organized, results-driven, and passionate about helping Montgomery County's federal workers transition into new careers through strong employer engagement and workforce alignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employer partnerships and hiring initiatives within the Federal Workforce Career Center (FWCC).
- Conduct proactive employer outreach to identify job opportunities aligned with the skills and goals of displaced federal workers.
- Facilitate job matching and referrals, ensuring strong alignment between employer needs and candidate qualifications.
- Coordinate with staffing agencies and employers to schedule on-site interviews, recruitment events, and hiring sessions at the FWCC.
- Collaborate with internal WorkSource Montgomery teams to align services and support customer career advancement goals.
- Accurately track jobseeker progress and employment outcomes in the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE), ensuring data integrity and confidentiality of personally identifiable information (PII).
- Maintain a high client caseload, with an emphasis on effective job placement and employer engagement outcomes.
- Conduct outreach to federal workers and other jobseekers through phone, email, LinkedIn, and in-person engagement.
- Provide referrals to WSM programs and external partners as appropriate to support job readiness and placement.
- Assist in the planning and execution of FWCC events, workshops, and employer engagement activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of FWCC and broader WorkSource Montgomery operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service, communication, client support and community outreach.
- High levels of familiarity with workforce development programs, especially those supporting dislocated workers and/or federal workers in transition.
- Strong public speaking ability and comfort.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, record keeping and web-based systems (experience with MWE preferred).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable interacting with jobseekers from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and experience levels.
Education & Experience:
- Associate degree or equivalent experience in 2 years-workforce development, 2 years-social services, or related field required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Prior experience in community outreach, business development is a plus.
- Experience using the Maryland Workforce Exchange (MWE) is highly preferred.
- Any offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of WSM's pre-employment screening processes.
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Location: This is a hybrid position, based at the WSM American Job Center in Wheaton; MD. Applicants should be local to the DC Metro region.
