Garden Center Phone Representative - Actively Hiring

Cashman Nursery is a family-owned nursery, design and build landscape business based in the heart of Gallatin Valley with over 40 years' experience beautifying Southwest Montana. Our customers vary from individuals buying seeds, flowers and shrubs to residential and commercial landscape projects.

Seasonal work typically begins in early April and ends in early November. Cashman Nursery employs approximately 25 full time seasonal workers with many working with Cashman's for 10 or more seasons.

We are looking for a Garden Center Phone Representative to be part of our team for the 2026 season!

Compensation: $19 and up depending on experience and initiative! Opportunity for overtime pay!

We are looking to fill one (1) FULL-TIME andone (1) PART-TIME position.

Cashman Nursery Phone and Email Customer Service Representative Job Duties

1. Provide phone-based customer service for a high volume of customer phone calls.
2. Manage incoming phone calls simultaneously from multiple phone lines.
3. Screen and transfer calls to various staff members' office extensions.
4. Continuously learn large volumes of information related to gardening and landscaping supplies, and related to choosing, planting, and caring for landscape plants.
5. Quickly access information related to gardening and landscaping supplies and related to choosing, planting, and caring for landscape plants. Access this information from in-office and in-store resources (hard-copy, electronic), and when appropriate, from non-Cashman-Nursery online resources.
6. Accurately answer customer questions via phone call and via email by communicating to customers the information described in #4 and #5 above.
7. When a response to a customer query is not immediately known, communicate the question to the appropriate Cashman staff member with the goal of obtaining the answer.
8. Via phone or via email, communicate the information obtained in #7 above to the customer.
9. As appropriate, for future efficiency and for improved customer service, add the information obtained in #7 above to in-house customer-service reference resources.
10. Using the retail Point of Sale (POS) system, perform occasional over-the-phone sales transactions.
11. Perform various clerical support services, including but not limited to: ordering office supplies; photocopying; filing; laminating; preparing mailings; typing documents on Microsoft Word; managing and thinning old office files.
12. Appropriately screen, read, respond to, or forward to the appropriate staff person emails received into the nursery's general email account. Using the archiving functions of the email system, maintain electronic records of emails.

Looking for someone who has:

• Strong knowledge and education of plants and gardening is REQUIRED for this role.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional.
• A positive, team player attitude.
• Excellent customer service skills a must.
• Great organizational skills.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks Point of Sale. (preferred but not required)

Full time hours will be 5 days a week, typically working 40 hours. Hours between 7:30 - 5:30. Opportunity for overtime!
