Job Description
We’re looking for a hands-on Marketing Manager to grow two premium ebike brands in North America. You’ll lead marketing strategy and execution across channels, manage a small team and external partners, and play a key role in product launches, brand awareness, and retail success. While Gazelle and Urban Arrow are category leaders in Europe, we are challenger brands in the US and Canada — and that’s exactly what makes this role exciting.
Imagine this: we’re launching a killer new ebike for the North American market. You’re shaping the launch plan end to end. You’re coordinating stellar photography and video, working with the team to turn those assets into campaigns, and aligning with our digital partners on ads and messaging. With the team, you decide what we communicate to retailers, when we do it, and how we get them truly excited to support the launch. You’re sitting with Sales to sharpen focus, aligning with HQ to ensure product pages go live with local content, and working closely with our PR agency to land coverage, ideally seeing that bike featured as a “best ebike of the year” by WIRED. You’re not just executing a plan — you’re shaping it, aligning teams, and making the call on what matters most.
That’s what this role looks like in practice. This job is located in Santa Cruz, California and has a hybrid in-office and work-remote schedule. Expect to be in the office a minimum of 3 days a week.
Who are we?
Royal Dutch Gazelle has been making bikes in the Netherlands since 1892, producing over 300,000 annually. Today, we’re Europe’s market leader, employing more than 550 people worldwide, and we still proudly build our bikes in our Dutch factory. We are a retail-first business selling exclusively through bike shops. Direct e-commerce experience is not required; experience with retail marketing, dealer networks, or sales-led environments is more relevant.
In 2017, we launched Gazelle Bikes North America in Santa Cruz, California, to bring Dutch cycling culture across the Atlantic. Alongside Gazelle, we represent Urban Arrow, the world’s leading e-cargo bike brand. With more than 100,000 bikes sold, Urban Arrow has propelled cargo bikes from a Dutch niche into a global solution for families. Together, we’re building a movement that’s redefining mobility in North America — backed by Pon.Bike, one of the world’s leading bicycle groups and the parent company of iconic brands such as Cannondale, Schwinn, and Santa Cruz Bicycles.
What you’ll do:
You own the marketing strategy for Gazelle and Urban Arrow in North America. While global brand strategy and core website foundations are set by HQ, you define how those brands come to life in the US and Canada. You decide what to adopt, adapt, or create locally — using global assets where they make sense and building new ones where the market demands it.
Management Team leadership
You are part of the North American Management Team and play an active role in shaping how the business grows. You contribute beyond marketing, help set priorities, and bring a clear market and customer perspective to leadership discussions.
Build and guide a small, strong team
You lead a lean North American marketing team and work closely with agencies and freelancers. You set priorities, give direction, and stay close enough to the work to keep quality high and timelines realistic.
Drive launches, campaigns, and brand building
You oversee product launches and key campaigns from concept through execution. That includes messaging, creative alignment, channel mix, retail activation, and PR — always with a clear sense of what will move the business and strengthen the brand.
Manage partners and performance
You collaborate with external partners across PR, digital, and SEO. You track performance, ask the right questions, and use insights to sharpen future decisions — without getting lost in dashboards.
Connect North America with HQ
You work closely with colleagues in the Netherlands across brand, product, and digital. You help bridge perspectives between a mature European market and a fast-evolving North American one, ensuring alignment without slowing things down. You will travel to the Netherlands twice a year to make that real connection.
Be a true partner to Sales and Retail
You work closely with the Sales team, reps, and retailers to ensure marketing supports sell-through, dealer training and engagement, and in-store experience. You believe great marketing doesn’t stop at awareness — it shows up on the shop floor.
Competencies & Experience:
This role is a good fit if you bring:
A proven track record in a fast-moving environment where strategy and execution sit close together, and where you’re expected to think, decide, and do.
8+ years of marketing experience, with at least 4 years in a role with real ownership or people leadership
Strong digital marketing experience (a meaningful share of budget and attention)
Proven experience with content, campaigns, and launches
Ability to lead complex projects end to end across teams, partners, and timelines
Nice to have, but not required:
PR experience or close agency collaboration
Experience working in a satellite office or international organization
Commercial or sales-facing experience
You’re someone who:
Makes smart calls with imperfect information
Is organized, proactive, and keeps things moving
Works easily across functions and with external partners
Brings a scrappy, can-do attitude and enjoys building
If this role excites you but you don’t check every box, we still encourage you to apply.
What you can expect from us
Real ownership and influence from day one
A fast-moving, collaborative environment with high standards and low ego
The energy of a scale-up backed by a global industry leader
Benefits include making your new ebike a reality, health/dental/vision coverage, 401k matching, and discounts on premium cycling gear.
