Job Title: General LaborLocation: Columbus, NEPay Rate: $17.00/hourJob Type: Full-TimeShift: Monday Thursday, 6: 00 AM 3: 30 PM;Friday, 6: 00 AM 12: 00 PMJob Summary:We re hiring a reliable and hands-on General Labor employee to support multiple production areas at our client's Columbus, NE facility. This is a critical role in our manufacturing process, involving inspection, metal finishing, sawing and general labor tasks. You ll work with a variety of tools, machines and chemicals in a fast-paced and safety-conscious environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect parts entering the finishing area for damage or surface imperfections
- Repair defects or alert supervisors when necessary
- Rack and prepare parts for anodizing and other metal finishing operations
- Operate multi-step cleaning, coating and drying processes
- Monitor and maintain chemical process tanks (temperature, concentration and chemical levels)
- Clean and refill tanks according to schedule
- Operate and maintain a small, low-pressure steam boiler
- Set up saws with guards, stops and fixtures to cut aluminum extrusions
- Accurately cut parts to length using a circular saw
- Move raw materials and finished parts using carts or forklifts (forklift experience a plus)
- Perform maintenance on saws (lubrication, blade changes, coolant refills)
- Use precision measuring tools (rulers, squares, calipers) to ensure accuracy
- Maintain cleanliness of machines and work areas
- Follow all safety guidelines and report issues immediately
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Knowledge of general shop and workplace safety practices
- Ability to read MSDS sheets, work instructions and measurements in English
- Comfortable working with multiple materials at different processing stages
- Experience using hand tools, power tools and shop equipment
- Familiarity with metalworking or fabrication processes
- Ability to read and use rulers, calipers and measuring devices
- Capable of lifting parts up to 75 pounds and standing for long periods
- Forklift operation experience is a plus
- Able to work independently and manage time effectively
- Indoor manufacturing facility (heated, not air-conditioned)
- Exposure to hazardous chemicals requiring PPE (some heated to 160 F)
- Process tanks contain chemical solutions at elevated temperatures
- High noise levels in sawing area (hearing protection required)
- Safety glasses, gloves, aprons and face shields required during certain operations
- Lifting long, heavy workpieces (up to 8 feet, 75 pounds) is required
- Consistent first shift with early Fridays
- Hands-on, active role with variety in daily tasks
