General Liability/ Insurance Defense

About the Position

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Mid-Level Insurance Defense Attorney with 3–7 years of experience to join our litigation team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general liability defense and experience managing cases from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Defend insureds and insurance carriers in general liability matters.
• Independently manage a litigation caseload from assignment through resolution.
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Handle written discovery and discovery disputes.
• Attend hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other court proceedings.
• Develop litigation strategy and provide recommendations regarding liability, exposure, and settlement.
• Communicate regularly with clients, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Manage case deadlines, budgets, and litigation expenses.
• Prepare cases for trial and participate in trial when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the applicable state bar.
• 3–7 years of civil litigation and/or insurance defense experience.
• Strong general liability defense experience preferred.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload.
• Strong negotiation, advocacy, and case-management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and professional judgment.
