Job Description
In collaboration with the President/Owner, you will spearhead the growth and management of a $10M civil construction and drilling division with a strategic goal to elevate the company revenue to $50M. This position mandates comprehensive P&L oversight and leadership over a team of approximately 2025 members, including key operational managers and administrators, spanning Eastern North Carolina and Charlotte.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic & Financial Leadership - Oversee the $10M P&L, driving profitability through accurate forecasting, budgeting, and enhancing profit margins. - Direct civil construction and telecom drilling operations, ensuring efficient site preparation and infrastructure support. - Propel the implementation of SOPs, process optimization, and the scalable use of technology and equipment. - Supervise work-in-progress reporting, job costing, billing cycles, cash flow management, and apply percentage-of-completion accounting practices.
Market Expansion & Business Development - Act as the primary liaison for major clients including telecom carriers, tower companies, general contractors, and property stakeholders. - Lead estimating, proposal development, and contract negotiation processes. - Enhance market visibility, positioning the division for a revenue growth trajectory towards $50M. - Uncover potential opportunities for geographic and service line expansion.
Leadership & Workforce Development - Cultivate leadership among project managers, superintendents, drilling foremen, and field teams. - Instill a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance. - Attract and retain high-caliber talent, while devising succession strategies. - Exemplify core values including Integrity, Loyalty, Eagerness, Safety, and Exceptional Performance.
Safety Assurance & Regulatory Adherence - Ensure strict compliance with OSHA and telecom safety standards. - Administer safety programs, oversee training initiatives, investigate incidents, and initiate corrective measures. - Maintain current licensing, certifications, and legal compliance.
Qualifications: - Over a decade of experience in civil construction and telecom infrastructure, with a core focus on civil engineering. - At least five years in a senior leadership role with full P&L accountability. - Proven track record in managing operations with revenue scales between $25M and $50M. - Strong skills in estimating and business development; flexibility to recruit an estimator if necessary. - Comprehensive knowledge of civil construction practices and telecom infrastructure. - Entrepreneurial approach, eager to manage the division with a business-owner mentality. - Suited for a family-centric, rapidly evolving company culture. - Open to participating in the Culture Index assessment.
Location Requirement: Preference for candidates willing to reside and manage operations in Eastern NC, especially within the Charlotte, Lexington, or Goldsboro areas.
