Job Description

General Manager — The Operator + Culture Builder

About the Role

We're hiring a General Manager who can run a restaurant like a business and a community. You'll own the day-to-day operations, lead the team with clarity and heart, and build the systems that make great service feel effortless. You're equal parts coach, strategist, and problem-solver—someone who can zoom out to improve the business and zoom in when the dish pit is melting down.

If you love hospitality, thrive on accountability, and get genuine satisfaction from building a team that wins together, this is your role.

What You'll Do

Own the Operation

  • Lead daily service operations across FOH + BOH in partnership with the Chef/Kitchen lead
  • Set standards for hospitality, cleanliness, speed, and consistency—and enforce them with fairness
  • Create and maintain systems: opening/closing, line checks, walk-throughs, side work, service steps, and accountability
  • Make the call when things get weird (because they will)

Lead the Team + Build Culture

  • Hire, onboard, train, and develop managers and hourly staff
  • Run pre-shifts and manager meetings that actually matter (clear goals, clear follow-through)
  • Coach performance in real time; handle corrective action professionally and consistently
  • Build a culture where people care: high standards, high support, no chaos for chaos's sake
  • Create schedules that balance business needs with human reality

Drive the Business (Numbers + Strategy)

  • Own the P&L and hit targets for sales, labor, COGS, and controllables
  • Forecast revenue, plan staffing, and manage labor intelligently by daypart and seasonality
  • Monitor KPIs: labor %, prime cost, comps, voids, discounts, check average, table turns, guest feedback
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales: service flow, upselling, specials, events, training, and execution
  • Partner with ownership on goals, reporting, and improvement plans

Hospitality at the Highest Level

  • Be visible on the floor—leading from the front, not from the office
  • Handle guest recovery like a pro: fast, calm, generous, and smart
  • Build relationships with regulars and create repeat business through genuine connection
  • Protect the guest experience relentlessly

Operational Excellence + Compliance

  • Ensure proper cash handling, deposits, and POS integrity
  • Maintain health/safety standards and enforce all compliance policies
  • Coordinate maintenance, vendors, repairs, and supplies—no “we ran out of forks” moments
  • Oversee inventory systems, ordering processes, and waste reduction
  • Keep the building sharp: music, lighting, cleanliness, uniforms, vibe—details matter

What Success Looks Like

  • The restaurant runs smoothly without constant fire drills
  • Guests feel taken care of and want to come back (and bring friends)
  • The team is trained, aligned, and proud of the standard
  • Scheduling and labor feel intentional—not reactive
  • Food, service, and cleanliness are consistently excellent
  • The business hits targets and improves month over month

What We're Looking For

  • 3–7+ years of restaurant leadership, including GM or strong AGM experience
  • Proven ability to manage labor and operations in a busy service environment
  • Strong leadership presence: calm, consistent, and respected
  • High standards + high emotional intelligence (you can be direct and still be loved)
  • Comfortable with systems and numbers: scheduling, inventory, P&L basics, reporting
  • Strong communication across FOH/BOH and with ownership
  • Flexible schedule including nights/weekends/holidays (this is restaurant life)

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with Toast, Resy, Sling, MarketMan, or similar tools
  • Beverage knowledge (beer/wine/cocktails) and ability to train basics
  • Experience opening new locations or improving underperforming ops

The Perks

  • A team that cares about hospitality and takes pride in the work
  • Real ownership partnership and room to build systems the right way
  • Opportunity to grow with the company and shape the culture
  • 3 weeks paid vacation
  • Company sponsored Healthcare
  • Quarterly Bonus based on performance
  • Cell phone stipend
