Position Overview
The General Manager will lead cross-functional teams, optimize processes, and maintain strong relationships with OEM customers while fostering a culture of safety, quality, integrity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership and direction for plant operations, including production, engineering, quality, maintenance, supply chain, and safety.
- Develop and execute strategies to meet production targets, quality standards, and on-time delivery for OEM and proprietary product lines.
- Oversee heavy steel fabrication, welding, machining, assembly, and related processes in a multi-facility or large-scale manufacturing setting.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
- Manage P&L responsibilities, budgeting, cost control, and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and quality certifications.
- Build and mentor high-performing teams, promoting employee development and a positive workplace culture.
- Bachelor’s degree (4-year degree) in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field is required.
- Significant plant management experience (typically 8+ years) in a manufacturing environment, with direct responsibility for full plant operations.
- OEM experience is mandatory — proven track record working with or supplying Original Equipment Manufacturers in a fabrication or component manufacturing setting.
- Strong background in steel fabrication, heavy manufacturing, welding, machining, or related industrial processes.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams of 100+ employees in a multi-shift operation.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, ERP systems, and data-driven decision making.
Preferred Skills and Competencies
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and develop teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Deep knowledge of safety standards (OSHA) and quality systems (ISO, etc.).
- Financial acumen and experience managing budgets and driving profitability.
- Customer-focused mindset with experience managing OEM relationships and expectations.
