General Quarry Worker

Polycor New England is looking for hard-working, positive team players to fill General Quarry Worker positions at our Jay, ME location. This is a year-round outdoor job involving the extraction of granite from our quarry.

Responsibilities :

• Drill holes in a granite block with a pneumatic hammer.
• Insert wedges into the holes and use a sledgehammer to break the blocks to the required dimensions.
• Operate drilling equipment.
• Operate saws to cut large blocks of granite from the open pit quarry.
• Follow policies and procedures to assure quality work.
• Maintain a clean work area.
• Work safely, according to guidelines and training, to prevent possible injuries to self and others.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Requirement:

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Must be willing to work overtime and some weekends.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Being comfortable with heights.

Training:

We offer training that will advance your knowledge, skills, and abilities within the industry. No experience necessary.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb ladders, balance, and stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move over 60 pounds.

Please Note: Candidates who live more than 30 miles from our operation will NOT be considered.

Working Conditions:

• Employment status: Permanent / Full-time.
• Salary rate starting at $22,00/hours
• Summer Schedule is 6:00am to 4:00pm M-F
• Winter hours will be 7:00 am to 3:00 pm M-F
