Job Description

General Superintendent – Heavy Civil Construction

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced General Superintendent to lead field operations on large-scale heavy civil construction projects throughout the region. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of heavy civil construction experience with a strong background in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) projects, soil cement, and large earthwork operations. Our projects include highways, bridges, power plants, dams, reservoirs, underground utilities, flood control, and other major infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all daily field operations on large heavy civil construction projects.
  • Manage Superintendents, Foremen, subcontractors, craft labor, and equipment.
  • Coordinate grading, mass excavation, embankment construction, underground utilities, soil stabilization, soil cement, and concrete operations.
  • Drive project productivity while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Owners, Engineers, Inspectors, and Government Representatives.
  • Ensure compliance with project schedules, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Utilize GPS machine control technology to maximize grading accuracy and production.
  • Assist with project planning, sequencing, logistics, and work plan development.
  • Mentor field leadership and help develop the next generation of Superintendents.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as a Heavy Civil Superintendent or General Superintendent.
  • Experience leading projects valued at $25 million or greater.
  • Strong background with USACE (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers) projects.
  • Experience with soil cement, roller-compacted earthwork, heavy earthwork production, and mass excavation.
  • Experience on large civil infrastructure projects such as dams, reservoirs, levees, flood control, heavy highway, bridges, and underground utilities.
  • Proficiency with GPS machine control and modern grading technology.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and large field teams in a fast-paced environment.
