LOCATION: Wild Horse Pass Corporate Center

COMPENSATION: $99,999-$99,999

HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, Full-Time

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUPERVISORY: Yes

REPORTS TO: District Manager

Summary:

The Gila Gas and Goods Assistant Manager serves as a flexible operational leader, stepping in to cover store operations across locations as needed, including during manager absences or vacancies. This role ensures continuity, stability, and consistent execution of standards while maintaining strong daily store performance. In addition to providing coverage, the Assistant Manager supports overall store performance, leads team members during assigned shifts, and contributes to sales growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. This position offers hands-on exposure to full-store leadership responsibilities and is designed to develop management skills in preparation for potential future promotional opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Store Coverage & Acting Leadership:

  • Step in to lead assigned stores during manager absences, vacancies, or high-need periods.
  • Assume full shift and, when assigned, temporary store oversight responsibilities.
  • Ensure operational continuity, team direction, and consistent execution of company standards.
  • Maintain accountability for store image, cleanliness, merchandising, sales, and shrink control while in charge.
  • Travel between locations as required to support business needs.

Store Operations & Performance:

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure efficiency, organization, and compliance.
  • Execute company initiatives, operational programs, and promotional strategies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators and assist in driving store sales and profitability.
  • Support labor management, expense control, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure fuel and retail areas remain customer-ready and fully operational.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Supervise team members during assigned shifts, ensuring productivity and accountability.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and real-time performance feedback.
  • Assist in hiring, onboarding, and training new employees.
  • Model strong leadership behaviors and reinforce company values.
  • Support development of team members to strengthen bench depth across locations.

Customer Experience:

  • Deliver and reinforce exceptional customer service standards.
  • Address and resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Foster a welcoming, safe, and community-focused environment.
  • Ensure consistent service expectations are upheld across shifts and locations.

Sales & Financial Accountability:

  • Support implementation of sales-building strategies and promotions.
  • Monitor sales trends and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Oversee proper cash handling procedures and register accuracy.
  • Prepare and verify daily sales reports and deposits.
  • Assist in managing shrink, inventory variance, and cost controls.

Inventory & Merchandising:

  • Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Ensure proper stocking, rotation, and merchandising standards.
  • Conduct inventory counts and assist with reconciliation of discrepancies.
  • Support ordering processes and vendor coordination.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
  • Maintain compliance with fuel handling and safety regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections to uphold cleanliness and safety.
  • Address hazards or compliance concerns promptly.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll processing, and record-keeping.
  • Generate reports on sales, inventory, and other key performance indicators as needed.
  • Coordinate with the store manager on various operational and administrative matters.

Supervisor Responsibility:

Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes hiring, work allocation, training, problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance; provides guidance and feedback for assigned staff.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work will primarily be performed in an office environment.

  • Work will be performed both inside and outside on a regular basis, in most weather conditions.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.
  • Occasional local day travel, Local travel to managed businesses.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
  • Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
  • Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
  • A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
  • Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gas station operations and convenience store products.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
  • Proficient in MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
