Job Description
HEPCO Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented GIS Mapper to support utility system mapping, asset management, and infrastructure data maintenance activities for our client. This role is ideal for candidates with 1–2 years of GIS experience looking to grow within the utility and infrastructure industry while supporting critical transmission and distribution operations. The GIS Mapper will be responsible for maintaining utility asset records, updating GIS-connected models, supporting field and engineering teams, and ensuring the accuracy of mapping and infrastructure data used across utility operations.Responsibilities
- Maintain the GIS connected model using information from work management systems, as-built drawings, work orders, completion records, field reports, and other project documentation
- Perform data analysis and queries to prepare reports, charts, maps, tabulations, and asset information summaries
- Produce standard prints and ad-hoc plots for field requests using GIS and related data systems
- Maintain service point data and relationships to feeding source transformers
- Track utility asset lifecycle information including inspections, attachments, and asset history
- Resolve conflicting mapping, connectivity, land, and asset data issues through office or field investigation
- Support GIS activities related to major utility projects including facility relocations, load rearrangement, and new business initiatives
- Operate office equipment including printers, plotters, scanners, duplication machines, and related systems
- Maintain records and documentation related to mapping and GIS activities
- Perform manual and computer-aided drafting functions
- Assist field, office, and plant personnel with related work activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- 1–2 years of GIS experience (professional or academic)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, maps, and utility records
- Basic understanding of GIS systems and utility infrastructure mapping
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based applications
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain driving privileges in the State of New Jersey
- Ability to work at various PSE&G locations based on workload and business needs
- Must have the ability to develop a working knowledge of:
- Company business applications and GIS systems
- Utility transmission and distribution systems
- Utility materials, equipment, and apparatus
- Operating procedures, maintenance manuals, safety rules, and utility practices related to assigned work
- Experience working in utility, engineering, infrastructure, or field operations environments
- Exposure to computer-aided drafting or mapping software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in both office and field settings
