Job Description

About Etched

Etched is building the world’s first AI inference system purpose-built for transformers - delivering over 10x higher performance and dramatically lower cost and latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents. Backed by hundreds of millions from top-tier investors and staffed by leading engineers, Etched is redefining the infrastructure layer for the fastest growing industry in history.

Job SummaryAs Etched scales production of our transformer-first inference systems, we are seeking an Electromechanical Global Supply Manager to own sourcing and supplier strategy across board-level electrical and electromechanical components. This includes ICs, passives, connectors, power components, and key PCBA elements that directly impact system performance, yield, and scalability.

You will build and manage Etched’s global supply base for critical board-level and electromechanical systems, ensuring delivery of high-performance hardware under aggressive cost, power, and production constraints. This is a deeply technical, cross-functional role working closely with Electrical Engineering, Hardware Systems, and Manufacturing to drive component selection, availability, and long-term supply resilience.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for board-level electrical and electromechanical components, including ASIC-adjacent ICs, passives, connectors, power ICs, and custom PCBA elements

  • Build and manage relationships with semiconductor vendors, distributors, and PCBA suppliers across regions

  • Negotiate pricing, allocation, LTAs, and supply agreements for constrained and high-value electrical components

  • Partner with Electrical Engineering on component selection, second sourcing, lifecycle management, and AVL strategy

  • Drive BOM-level cost optimization, including should-cost modeling and benchmarking across electrical subsystems

  • Manage supply continuity for critical components, including ASIC support chips, VRMs, memory interfaces, and high-speed interconnects

  • Monitor semiconductor and passive markets, including lead times, allocation risk, and pricing volatility

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to obsolescence, EOL, single sourcing, and geopolitical exposure

  • Align sourcing strategies with NPI builds, qualification cycles, and high-volume production ramps

  • Support EVT, DVT, and PVT builds, as well as production readiness, in coordination with manufacturing and program teams

  • Present sourcing strategies, cost tradeoffs, and supply risks to executive leadership

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field

  • 7+ years of experience in sourcing or commodity management for board-level electrical or electromechanical components

  • Strong understanding of PCBA components, including ICs, passives, connectors, and power delivery systems

  • Experience partnering with Electrical Engineering on component selection, AVL definition, and lifecycle management

  • Proven track record managing semiconductor suppliers and negotiating supply under constrained conditions

  • Strong analytical skills in BOM costing, should-cost modeling, and supply-demand planning

  • Experience supporting NPI builds and scaling to high-volume production

  • Familiarity with global electronics supply chains, including distributors and contract manufacturers

  • Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with high ownership

  • Experience managing suppliers across Asia

Nice-to-have qualifications

  • Experience sourcing components for high-performance compute systems, servers, or datacenter hardware

  • Familiarity with ASIC-adjacent ecosystems, including high-speed interfaces, memory subsystems, and power delivery networks

  • Experience working with leading semiconductor companies (e.g., NVIDIA, AMD, Broadcom, Qualcomm, TI, NXP)

  • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and thermal implications of component choices

  • Experience managing allocation during semiconductor shortages

  • Background in PCBA manufacturing processes, yield considerations, and test flows

  • Experience in a high-growth hardware startup environment

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision packages with generous premium coverage

    • $500 per month credit for waiving medical benefits

  • Housing subsidy of $2k per month for those living within walking distance of the office

  • Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)

  • Various wellness benefits covering fitness, mental health, and more

  • Daily lunch and dinner in our office

How we’re different

Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.

We are a fully in-person team in San Jose and Taipei, and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
