Job Description
Lead global trade compliance strategy for a multinational industrial manufacturer's fluid and motion control businesses. You will build and run an International Trade Compliance (ITC) program that supports ethical operations, reduces risk, and enables efficient global business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the ITC function and lead the Americas trade compliance team and program
- Manage and develop a global team of compliance professionals
- Direct site compliance programs, including self-assessments, verification, improvement plans, procedures, training, and audits
- Own export, import, and supply chain security compliance: customs valuation, classification, origin, free trade agreements, and CTPAT/AEO controls
- Serve as escalation point for trade compliance, including investigations, disclosures, and remedial measures
- Act as primary interface with government authorities (BIS, OFAC, CBP, DoS) on audits, inquiries, and enforcement
- Partner with Legal, Finance, HR, Internal Audit, Sales, and other ITC leaders to resolve issues and advance global compliance goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience leading a trade compliance organization in a multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of maquila operations and free trade agreements, especially USMCA
- Working knowledge of OFAC, BIS, DoS, and U.S. and Mexico customs regulations
- Sound judgment in ambiguous, high-risk situations; ability to turn complex regulations into practical business solutions
- Travel of about 10%, domestic and international
- Authorization to work in the U.S. without current or future sponsorship
Preferred
- Degree or equivalent experience in international trade, compliance, business, legal studies, or finance
- U.S. Customs Broker License
- Experience with JDE, Oracle, E2Open, or TradeSphere Exporter
- Knowledge of REACH, RoHS, IEC standards, and anti-corruption due diligence
- Spanish language skills
