Position Title: Graduate Assistant, Special Events
Supervisors: The Exec. Director of Student Support and the Exec. Director of Community Relations & External Affairs
Compensation: Tuition Waiver
Cumberland University is seeking a personable and highly motivated Graduate Assistant (GA) to work a combined minimum of 20 hours each week on activities and events generated from two different University offices. Namely, the Office of Community Relations & External Affairs and the Office of Retention and TN Promise support. The successful candidate for this position will need to be flexible in their hours since many of the events coordinated by these offices occur in the evening, on the weekends, and over the summer. Therefore, the GA must be enrolled in summer classes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events including, but not limited to, Rising Phoenix Days, Student Orientation, Parent Orientation, Founders' Day, the Phoenix Ball, Symphony on the Lawn, Camp FAME, the Patrons' Party, and Notes for Nurses.
- Assist in the preparation of various mailings related to the above special events.
- Promote upcoming events on social media.
- Update data base with addresses and other contact information
- Communicate via telephone, email, and text messages with event attendees, students, and parents.
- Assist as needed with entering information into auction software.
- Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Exec. Director of Community Relations & External Affairs and the Exec. Director of Student Support.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to any personal information.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have a 3.0 or above overall GPA
- Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Cumberland University
- Must possess a high level of discretion
- Available to work flexible hours (days, evenings, and weekends) depending on the schedule of events

COMPENSATION
