Graduate Assistant, Accessibility Services (Compliance)

Compensation: Tuition Waiver

Hours: 20 hours per week minimum for term of graduate program

Job Description and Responsibilities

Position Overview:

This position supports the Director of Accessibility Services in promoting an accessible digital

environment across the university. This role focuses on assisting with institutional compliance

with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This role also assists another

departmental Graduate Assistant with accommodated exam proctoring.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. You may pull website compliance reports from online resources, and organize them into

excel spreadsheets or word documents.

  1. You will work closely with faculty, staff, and IT to promote accessible design. Faculty

may request that you assist with editing their course materials (such as PDFs, Word Docs,

Powerpoints).

  1. Assist in responding to accessibility-related questions and accommodation needs.

  2. Proctor exams for students with academic accommodations (as needed).

  3. Stay informed on updates to accessibility standards, technologies, and legal requirements.

  4. Assist with tracking progress on accessibility initiatives.

  5. Support remediation efforts by identifying existing and potential digital accessibility

barriers.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Enrolled in a graduate program (preferably in Information Technology, Business, or

related field)

  1. Familiarity with or willingness to learn about the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines

(WCAG)

  1. Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

  2. Effective written and verbal communication skills

  3. Fluency in Google mail, calendar, and scheduling

  4. Experience or willingness to learn how to create accessible documents (e.g., PDFs, Word,

PowerPoint)
