Job Summary
The Graduate Assistant for Residential & Commuter Operations will provide comprehensive support for daily housing operations, commuter services, and office functions. This position assists with Residence Life operations while developing initiatives that enhance the commuter student experience. The GA will engage directly with students, parents, and staff and help coordinate both residential and commuter programs, events, and services that foster a sense of belonging and community connection.

Duties & Responsibilities
Residence Life Operations
- Assist with main office operations, responding to inquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
- Support housing processes, including room changes, key distribution, and hall/room inspections.
- Contribute to major initiatives such as RA training, move-in, hall closings, and commencement.
- Assist with residence education projects including RA selection, RA appreciation, Student Life Awards, and other departmental needs.
Commuter Engagement
- Serve as a secondary contact for commuter students to support engagement and success.
- Assist with commuter meal plan requests and maintain accurate records.
- Plan and implement programs and events to build community among commuter students.
- Collect and analyze feedback to inform services and programming.
- Collaborate with campus partners to address commuter needs and enhance the commuter experience.
General
- Maintain a welcoming, professional environment in the Office of Residence Life.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support Residence Life and Commuter Services.
Physical Job Components
- Light to moderate lifting of files, supplies and office materials.
- Able to use office and telecommunications equipment.
- Walking required; traveling may be expected at times.
Skills & Requirements
- Must be enrolled in a graduate degree program.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to utilize Canva for marketing purposes.
- Experience in student leadership, programming, or customer service preferred.
