Job Description

The Graduate Therapist Intern for the Outpatient Mental Health Clinics is responsible for providing individual, family, and/or group therapy while supervised by an appropriately licensed supervisor. The internship is located in one of eight outpatient mental health clinics located in Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Anne Arundel County, Harford County, Allegany County, or Frederick County or our youth crisis response program located in Baltimore City. Typical internships are 2-3 full days per week, Monday-Friday. Depending on intern interest and placement availability, services may be provided in community clinics, schools, or other partnership locations both in person and via telehealth. In addition to providing clinical services, Graduate Therapist Interns are expected to develop and implement treatment plans, participate in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, serve as a liaison between the clinic and school / partnership program if applicable, provide case management for assigned caseload, successfully utilize the electronic medical record, and complete all required documentation on time.

Interns best suited to the program are those who are flexible, creative, self-driven, and eager to learn and practice. They strive to integrate classroom and real-world learning into their clinical work and are unafraid to consider new ideas. They are compassionate and recognize that the individuals served have a broad range of lived experiences that may be influenced by trauma, oppression, and injustice.

In addition to weekly individual supervision and day-to-day clinical practice, Graduate Therapist Interns are routinely offered a range of opportunities including clinical group supervision, intern discussion groups, clinical trainings, and exposure to other Catholic Charities programs of interest. Interns who successfully complete their internship and pass related licensing exams are routinely offer post-internship employment when positions are available.
