Job Description
Our client, a well-established nonprofit based in The Bronx, is looking for a Grant Accounting Manager. This is a FTE role, and the successful candidate will have 2+ year of grant accounting experience. Client DetailsWell-established nonprofit based in The Bronx. This role is 5 days per week in office, and offers an individual with 2+ years of NYC/NYS grant accounting experience a chance to work within a collaborative department at a stable nonprofit. DescriptionThis role will involve: AnalysisPerform monthly grant reconciliations to ensure that all activities under each grant fall within thefunder and agency guidelines. Processes payroll expense reclasses as needed
Ensure accuracy of budget information on the general ledger
Verify collections of funds with Accounts Receivable and ensure accuracy of receivable balances in the ledger for the assigned contracts.Budgeting/ForecastingWork with program staff to develop budgets and budget modifications as required and needed by program staff and government agencies Provide assumptions and actual data for budget development
Engages in a forecasting process with the programs to review significant changes from budget
Ensure accuracy of budget information in the general ledger
Prepares cash flow projections during budget and budget modification processes
Communicates budget submission deadlines
ReportingTrain program staff as needed on how to read the budget to actual financial variance reports
Meet with program staff to review financial status and that the budgets are up to date and accurate.Investigates budget to actual variances and communicates with programs
AdministrativeSupervises outsourcing billing team
Maintain complete and accurate grant files
Assists with funder and financial statement audits
Trains program staff on the proper coding of expenditures
Works with Operational Accounting unit to open and close cost centers as necessary
Work proactively with program staff to provide all fiscal support needed in their management of their programs
Attend professional trainings, including funder trainings, in order to be informed of any changes in funders' requirements
Submits 65a related documents for approval
Undertake special projects as assigned
ProfileThe successful candidate will have: 2-3 years of grant accounting experience if Bachelors or Masters' Degree obtained7+ years of grant accounting experience if only HS Diploma obtained
Sage Intacct or Nexonia software experience required
Demonstrated knowledge of financial planning and analysis
