Job Summary

Elizabethton High School is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Grant Communication Coordinator to support and advance the priorities of the XQ Grant through strategic storytelling and communications. This position serves as the central storyteller for XQ-funded initiatives, highlighting innovative learning practices, community-engaged learning, and the Appalachian Futurism Project.

The Grant Communication Coordinator will create compelling digital and traditional media content that elevates the work of students, educators, and community partners. The role requires close collaboration with the Community Partnership Director to ensure effective information flow with partner institutions and with the EHS Librarian to document and preserve the recent history of Elizabethton High School for the school archives.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Storytelling & Content Creation

  • Develop and share stories that capture the impact of XQ grant initiatives, including community-engaged learning experiences and the Appalachian Futurism Project.
  • Create engaging digital content for social media platforms (photos, videos, graphics, short-form written content).
  • Produce content for traditional media outlets, including press releases, feature articles, newsletters, and print publications.
  • Maintain consistent messaging that aligns with EHS, district branding, and XQ grant goals.

Grant Communications & Reporting Support

  • Support communication needs related to XQ grant implementation, milestones, and outcomes.
  • Document grant-related activities, events, and projects through written narratives, photography, and video.
  • Assist in compiling communication materials that may support grant reporting, presentations, or public updates.

Community & Partner Communications

  • Work alongside the Community Partnership Director to ensure partner organizations receive timely, accurate, and relevant information from Elizabethton High School.
  • Support a clear and organized flow of information between EHS, partner institutions, and internal stakeholders.
  • Highlight partnerships and collaborative projects through storytelling and media coverage.

Archival & Historical Documentation

  • Collaborate with the EHS Librarian to document and preserve the recent history of Elizabethton High School.
  • Collect, organize, and archive stories, artifacts, photos, videos, and narratives connected to school transformation efforts.
  • Contribute to the long-term preservation of EHS's evolving identity and innovative work.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma with a preference of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Media Studies, Education

  • Photography and/or videography skills.
  • Familiarity with Appalachian communities, culture, or place-based storytelling.
  • Experience managing or contributing to school or organizational social media accounts.
  • Knowledge of digital content tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing platforms).
  • Creative storytelling and narrative development.
  • Collaboration and relationship-building.
