Job Description
R. J. Corman Railroad Services is currently seeking a Grapple Truck Operator in Nicholasville, KY.
Responsibilities:
- Transport, operate, and service heavy equipment used in railroad derailment recovery.
- Safely operate grapple trucks and other CDL-A vehicles/equipment.
- Handle heavy steel chains, blocks, cables, and other recovery materials.
- Perform equipment maintenance, cleaning, and setup.
- Use hand and power tools, including cutting torches and welding equipment.
- Perform manual labor such as digging and hammering.
- Follow DOT regulations and permit requirements.
- Maintain safe work practices and proper PPE usage.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- Valid CDL-A license with no restrictions and manual endorsement required.
- Valid DOT Medical Card required.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe vehicle operation.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as grapple trucks, sidebooms, track loaders, excavators, and vac trucks.
- Experience with or ability to learn welding, cutting torch operations, and equipment maintenance.
- Must pass a background check, drug screen, and physical capacity test.
- On-the-job training provided.
Physical Requirements:
- Lift up to 100 pounds maximum.
- Frequently lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Perform physically demanding tasks, including digging and material handling.
- Comfortable working at heights over 25 feet on railroad cars and bridges.
- Ability to work over or in water.
Environmental Requirements:
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work in railroad recovery and construction environments.
- Exposure to elevated work areas, bridges, and water-related worksites.
- Must enjoy and be comfortable working outdoors for extended periods.
