You'll work alongside experienced team members to ensure products are finished to high standards, helping deliver quality results to our customers every day.What You'll Do As a Grinder Operator, you will be responsible for:
- Reading blueprints and shop instructions to understand required grinding processes.
- Using hand and power tools to grind, polish, and finish sheet metal components.
- Differentiating between internal and external grinding surfaces, applying appropriate techniques for each.
- Selecting and properly using grinding tools, abrasive wheels, and paper depending on grit and application.
- Grinding Cold Rolled Steel without damaging or weakening the material, ensuring minimal rework.
- Inspecting welds and finished surfaces, rejecting parts with failed or insufficient welds.
- Meeting or exceeding production, quality, and safety standards for assigned tasks.
- Focusing on doing the job right to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Utilizing Lean practices to identify waste and improve process flow, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors, and performing other duties as assigned.
- Basic knowledge of hand tools, grinders, saws, measuring tools, and safety equipment.
- Prior experience in sheet metal, machine shop, or manufacturing environments is preferred but not required.
- Ability to read simple blueprints and perform basic math functions.
- Physical ability to lift 10-20 lbs frequently, up to 50 lbs periodically, and assist with team lifts up to 100 lbs.
- Stamina to stand, bend, stoop, crawl, and climb for up to 8 hours.
- Attention to detail, safety consciousness, and a proactive attitude toward quality.
